A very easy truly scrap or charm quilt.
Can measure 36" square or 72" square without borders.
To be completed in 6 stages (without borders).
Be warned be careful in sorting your scraps. They must be light and dark.
So you will need 3 lights and 3 darks or light and dark scraps.
You will need:
36" Square Scrap material 36" Square Yardage
36 – 2½" x 2½" squares light ¼ yard light
36 – 2½" x 2½" squares dark ¼ yard dark
36 – 4½" x 2½" rectangle light ½ yard light
36 – 4½" x 2½" rectangle dark ½ yard dark
36 – 3½" x 2½" rectangle light 1/3 yard light
36 – 3½" x 2½" rectangle dark 1/3 yard dark
For 72" square quilt multiply the above requirements by 4
So you will need 144 of each square or rectangle
And 2 yards each light and dark
1 1/3 yards each light and dark
1 yard each light and dark
Plus you will need extra material for your borders.
Part One
I will need to give you two separate instructions depending on whether or not you are using scraps or yardage.
Using scraps:
Join your 2½" x 2½" squares light to your 2½" x 4½" dark rectangles
You should have 36 pieces if you are doing the small quilt or 144 pieces if you are doing the large quilt
Using yardage:
From the ¼ yard light cut strips 2½" wide
From the ½ yard dark cut strips 4½" wide
Join these two strips together and press towards the dark
Now cut these into 2½" pieces. Continue until you have 36 pieces for the small quilt or 144 pieces for the large quilt
